Rosin Esters
Rosin is a solid resin extracted from plants and trees and consists primarily of organic acids, which are reacted with alcohols (most commonly glycerol or pentaerythritol) to produce rosin esters and hydrogenated rosin esters. These esters offer high levels of tack and resilience when added to other resin systems and the softening points of the resins are controlled. Further control on the reaction determines the acid value of the finished ester. Rosin esters vary in colour from amber to white.
Applications and Uses:
The natural tackiness of the rosin esters lends itself to applications in Adhesives, but also in Inks and Industrial paints including Roadmarking systems.
